Sunday route recap

Small'ish group, which split shortly after I showed. (Think I should take that personally?) Not many of the older crew out for the ride, only Steve.

  1. I suffered from a bad leg cramp in my calf and then a flat tire at the top of Sunnyside. This might have been induced by the immediate acceleration of the group when Jeff Rowe and co. showed up at the top South Oyster Bay Road.

I convinced Andy to ride home with me on the service road where we met Jamie Swan, a frame and bike builder from Northport. Link here: http://www.jamieswan.net/

He was on his way to the North American Cyclocross Trophy event in Eisenhower Park. The track was a 3 mile loop that circled the 911 memorial on the pond. Watching these guys dismount and remount their bikes at full speed to climb a flight of steps was pretty entertaining, even for my 5 year old.

  2. I should have gone as well. watched an exciting Jets game instead. Jamie Swan was an interesting guy and his web site is like stepping into a LI Bike museum.
